Spielbergs announce debut album "This Is Not The End" | Listen to the first single...

Today is a good day. A very, very good day. A lot of work behind the scenes has gone into this one, so we’re over the moon to finally be able to announce that Spielbergs will be releasing their debut album “This Is Not The End” with us on Feb 1st 2019. It’ll be available on CD and download, as well as a limited transparent yellow 12” vinyl – all of which can be pre-ordered in the official store here.

If you’re wanting an immediate hit of what’s to come from the album, the good people at Stereogum are premiering the emphatic first single “4AM” which you can read about, and listen to, here.

Should you be with us in the UK then you’ll have the chance to catch the band on their first ever headline tour of our shores, when they play the following shows in Feb next year. Tickets will go on sale this Friday 2nd November at 10am.

11.02.19 – Jimmy’s - Manchester
12.02.19 – The Garage (Attic Bar) - Glasgow
13.02.19 – Think Tank? Underground - Newcastle
14.02.19 – Sunflower Lounge - Birmingham
15.02.19 – Shacklewell Arms – London

We’re almost running out of superlatives for this lot. Having seen them play a bunch of songs in a couple of Norway’s sweatiest dive bars, it’s been so exciting to see how far those same songs have travelled over the past 6 months. We can’t wait for you to hear the record in full. Spoiler: the transparent yellow vinyl look amazing but it won’t be around forever…

Signed a band, we signed a band, look at us, we signed a band. Sunshine Frisbee Laserbeam join the BTTIGD family.

Chance encounters, old friends, new friends, a spot of Mescal, and 8 huge songs later, it is our great pleasure to be able to announce our latest signings Sunshine Frisbee Laserbeam. They’ll be releasing their new album “Blackout Cowboy” with us on November 9th, and you can pre-order it on CD / LP / download HERE. We’re also very happy to share that the album’s first single “All The Way Over The Edge (Bro’s Don’t Talk About Anything)” is premiering over at Stereogum. They called it "a psyched-out spin on the neurotic power pop of early Weezer and the sprawling guitar rock of Titus Andronicus", and you can listen to it HERE.

Thematically it’s about how all too often the male condition stops us sharing emotions, and we either make light of our problems or brush them off completely.

Early lo-fi offerings from the band, in the form of two EPs, a self-titled album, and a Halloween single, cemented the then three-piece as regulars on the Birmingham music scene, as well as frequent invites to towns and cities up and down the country. A couple of increases in headcount (most recently Junior Laidley on keyboards and percussion) and the purple patch writing sessions around “Blackout Cowboy” have allowed the band to move away from the lo-fi aesthetic they once adhered to, and are now able to work the same unique approach to songwriting into an ever expanding range of hooks, riffs and drones that fill any room they play.

They’re also going on tour!

02 Nov - The Lanes - Bristol
03 Nov - Sunflower Lounge - Birmingham
04 Nov - The Castle - Manchester
05 Nov - Wharf Chambers - Leeds
08 Nov - TBC - Cambridge
09 Nov - Rough Trade - Nottingham
11 Nov - Old Blue Last, London

See you out there.

Spielbergs' debut EP "Distant Star" is available now

We’re so happy to announce that our very first release – Spielbergs’ debut EP “Distant Star” – is out now, worldwide. We’ve been bowled over by the swathe of support that the record has attracted, and we can’t wait to unveil our plans for the rest of the band’s 2018. Thanks so much to everyone that has bought a copy so far. If you’re still not convinced, have a read through what some of the media are saying about the band below and head over to our bandcamp page to grab a CD or ltd edition cassette tape, or stream the EP in full over at Spotify

“An amazing band, I really like this.”
Dan P Carter, BBC Radio 1 Rock Show

“'We Are All Going To Die’ is the perfect introduction to the trio – with clattering rhythms and razor-sharp riffs combining for a devastating listen.”

“Big, heart-on-sleeve guitar-rock with a go-for-broke anthemic intensity… “We Are All Going To Die” will have you either tearing up, punching the sky, or both.”

“Fans of fuzzy, propulsive cathartic jams, are about to have a new favourite band.”

“Pummelling yet melodic guitars batter you round the heart with nary a pause for breath… Full of huge, lung-busting, shouting-into-the-wind vocals and relentless drums, guitars and everything else, cheerily-titled new single ‘We Are All Going To Die’ shows little concern for restraint.”

"We Are All Going To Die" is encased in a relentless soundscape of drums and guitars, owing its all-encompassing musicianship to shoegaze that is underpinned by a distinctly emo heart.”
The Line of Best Fit

“A roller coaster ride of rollicking riffs, descending and ascending with a luminous fury and friskiness, before delivering us back home again safe and sound, but breathless.”
The 405

“Guitars drill down at all angles, while the pummelling percussion sounds like a cement mixer trying to chew up a steel beam.”

“It offers the kind of swaggering, punch-drunk escapism we used to spend all our time wishing for in our teenage years, while making it feel utterly achievable even now we’re much older and far more cynical.”
Gold Flake Paint

“Harnessing the sun-kissed escapism of road-trip-rock acts like Japandroids and Cloud Nothings, their pessimistic streak is cast aside be searing riffs and an urgency most lo-fi groups could do well to glen from.”

“One of the most exciting bands of 2018.”

Signing announcement: Spielbergs

We’re delighted to announce the signing of Oslo’s Spielbergs.

After seeing them almost by accident during a trip to Trondheim last year and hearing more and more music over the last year, it was our enthusiasm for those songs that inspired us to set up this very label.

We are proud to be releasing their debut EP, “Distant Star”, on April 27th on both CD and a limited edition “night’s sky” cassette and there are further releases planned for later in the year.
